Have you been wondering if God can use unbelievers?
If you have, the answer is Yes, God can bless and use unbelievers to achieve His purposes.
We see an example of this with Cyrus because even though he did not know the God of Israel:
1. God strengthened Cyrus so that he could conquer nations and overcome opposition
Thus says the Lord God to His Cyrus,
whose right hand I have held -
to subdue nations before him and
to disarm kings,
to open before him the double doors,
and ensure gates will not be shut. (Isaiah 45:1)
2. God promised to precede Cyrus and destroy all opposition that Cyrus would face:
'I will go before you and make the crooked paths straight,
I will break in pieces bronze gates and
I will cut the iron bars. (Isaiah 45:2)
3. God promised to enrich Cyrus:
I will give you treasures in dark places and
I will give you hidden riches in secret places (Isaiah 45:3)
God would do all of this for Cyrus for the sake of Israel and also so that Cyrus and all the people in the world would know that He was the God of Israel:
So that you may know that I, the Lord, who calls you by your name am the God of Israel.
For the sake of Jacob My servant and Israel my chosen people,
I have called you by your name,
I have named you even though you have not known Me.
I am the Lord and there is no other,
There is no god besides Me.
I will prepare you for battle, even though you have not known Me,
so that people may known that from the rising of the sun in the East to its setting in the West there is no other God besides Me.(Isaiah 45:3-6)
Therefore do not be surprised when you see a non-believer being guided, strengthened, blessed and used by God because you do not know the purposes of God.
