The second lesson we can learn from the Widow of Zarephath is that God can do much good with what may appear as good-for-nothing.
We see this from the fact that the Widow had just been left with a handful of flour in a bin and a little oil in a jar which she was planning to use to prepare a meal for her son and herself so that they could eat and die, (1 Kings 17:12) but God had other plans for that little flour and oil.
God had planned for that little flour and oil to feed His prophet Elijah because He sent him to the Widow to be fed (1 Kings 17:9) and the food that he ate was prepared from that flour and oil.
Therefore, even if your resources have dwindled up to the extent of almost drying up and you think the little that is left cannot do any good, understand that God knows the state of your affairs and He may have planned to use it for something very good.
So if your physical, mental, emotional and financial resources are down and you think that death is the only option you have, do not give up.
Do not give up because you do not know how God can turn around your situation by using the little flour in your bin or the little money in your account or the little energy in your body.
God tells us, "My thoughts are not your thoughts, and My ways are not your ways. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)
If your thoughts are therefore telling you that it is over because you cannot see a way out of your stressful situation, know and believe that God's thoughts about your situation may be totally different from yours and His ways or methods of solving your problem may be totally different from what your human mind tells you.
So once again, do not give up and wait for death or commit suicide.
Give the situation up to God and wait for Him to turn it around.
