Paul was Timothy's mentor.
Naomi was Ruth's mentor.
Elijah was Elisha's mentor.
Who is your mentor?
If you do not have a physical mentor, you can make Jesus your spiritual mentor because He is our Counselor. (Isaiah 9:6)
Therefore make it a point to talk to Jesus every morning and before you make any major decision in you life.
If you are a mentor, know that one of the roles that Christian mentors have to play is to provide spiritual coverage for their mentee.
We learn this from Moses when the Amalekites came to fight with the Israelites at Rephidim for he instructed Joshua to choose Israelite men to fight with them for the next day he would be standing on the hilltop with the rod of God in his hand.
Joshua did as instructed and went to physically fought with the Amalekites. As he did so, Moses was at the top of the hill holding up his hands because when he did so Israel got the upper hand and when he put down his hands, the Amalekites begun to win.
When Moses became tired, he sat on a stone and Aaron with Hur supported his right and left hands. They did this until the sun set and thus helped Joshua defeated the Amalekites. (Exodus 17:8-13) Moses then erected an altar for God and named it Jehovah Nissi which means The Lord Is My Bannner.
From this incidence we can see that Moses by holding up his hands as he held the od of God, provided spiritual coverage for Joshua which enabled him defeat the Amalekites.
Therefore if you are a mentor and understand that one of your roles is to provide your mentees with spiritual covering by praying for them.
As you do so ensure that you are standing on a high spiritual ground yourself and you are not encumbered by sin.
In addition hold your Bible to represent the rod of God which Moses held because the word of God is the sword of the spirit. (Ephesians 6:17)
