Are you suffering in a wilderness situation after leaving a bondage situation?
Are you suffering in a financial wilderness after losing a stressful job?
If you are, listen to what God is saying to you:
Thus says the Lord God who creates a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters,
The God who brings forth the chariots and horses, the army and the power so that they lie down together, unable to rise. They are extinguished and snuffed out like a wick:
Do not remember the things that happened in the past,
Or consider the things that happened long ago.
Look for the new things I am going to do.
They are springing forth right now
Shall you not recognize them?
I will even create a road through the wilderness and rivers in the desert.(Isaiah 43:16-19)
Therefore do not cling to the things that happened in your past or keep remembering what happened long ago.
Look out for the new things that God is doing in your present and those that He has promised to do in your future for He says, I know the thoughts I think towards you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, thoughts to give you the future you hope for. (Jeremiah 29:11)
Even if you are wandering in a wilderness after leaving your bondage situation, do not focus on the desolation of your current wilderness regardless of whether it is caused by not having money or losing your "friends".
Focus on the new things that God is doing in your wilderness situation because They are springing forth right now. Shall you not recognize them?
These new things that God is doing might include a road or an idea that shows you the direction you should move.
These new things or blessing in your current wilderness might include rivers like small opportunities to make money.
If you cannot recognize the new things that God is doing for you, ask Him to open your eyes so that you can see them the way God opened Hagar's eyes and she say a well of water (Genesis 21:19) when she was in the wilderness of Beersheba.
Therefore stop clinging to or thinking about the great River Nile that hydrated you when you were in Egypt and because you might miss the small streams that God opens in your wilderness.
Reminding yourself of the River Nile, whose source is two water bodies - Lake Victoria in Kenya and Lake Tana in Ethiopia - may make you miss the new streams of water that God is creating from different sources like rocks for He opened rocks and water gushed out and flowed in the wilderness like a river. (Psalm 105:41)
For example, if you were laid off from a well paying corporate job where you were stressed, stop looking back at the perks like health insurance that you lost since this can make you think that you can only get those perks from employment.
Focus on your present and start looking for the new streams God is opening in your jobless wilderness situation because with His power they can multiply and become a mighty river that provides you with all the perks you need.
Reminding yourself of the River Nile, which contends for the spot of the world's longest river with the Amazon River, may make you ungrateful for the miraculous little streams God is creating in your wilderness situation.
For example, if you lost a well-paying job, focusing on the large monthly salary you lost may make you ungrateful for the tiny income you are getting from your new business. This ingratitude might make you neglect your new business and lead to the tiny streams drying up and leaving you with nothing when they could have multiplied and become larger than the monthly salary you lost.
Therefore stop reminding yourself of the River Nile that you drunk from when you were in bondage in Egypt and start looking for the little streams in your wilderness and thanking God for them.
Let your motto as you trudge through your wilderness situation be: One thing I do is forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those which are ahead, I press toward the goal (of my Promised Land). (Adapted Philippians 3:13-14)
Build your faith by believing that if God can open rocks and make water rush out in the middle of your wilderness situation, He can also lead you out of the wilderness into your Promised Land which flows with rivers of water, milk, and honey.
Build your faith by believing that With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26) because He is able to make a road through water for He Creates a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters and He is also able to make a road through land for He Creates a road through the wilderness.
