Encouragement: An Example of God's Exceeding Abundance

Encouragement: An example of God's exceeding abundance

Are you in a dismal situation that you do not see a way out?

Does it seem that you will go to your grave mourning?

If you are, learn from Jacob because when his other sons sold his favorite son Joseph into slavery and dipped his coat in blood before bringing it to him, he assumed a wild animal had killed him and said, "I shall go down to the grave to meet my son mourning." (Genesis 37:35)

However he was about to learn that God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more that we can ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20)

We see this because he thought that he would go down to his grave mourning but God made him go down to Egypt rejoicing.

This was because a severe famine developed where he was living and his other sons had to go to Egypt to buy food. In Egypt they found that Joseph was now the Prime Minister and he sent them to his father with 10 donkeys loaded with food and carts to bring him to Egypt as Pharaoh had commanded. (Genesis 45:21-24)

These carts must have been very special carts because when Jacob saw them, his spirit was revived. (Genesis 45:27)

Jacob thus went down to Egypt with his sons and their families in these special carts but God was not through with showing him His exceeding abundance because he not only met his favorite son Joseph, but he also met Joseph's children, his own grandchildren.

As a result, Jacob said to Joseph, "I had not thought I would see your face, but in fact God has also shown me your offspring!" (Genesis 48:11)

Meeting Joseph's children was exceedingly and abundantly more than Jacob could have ever asked or thought because he thought that Joseph had died but God made it happen for him.

Therefore believe that God can also make things which are exceedingly and abundantly more than you could even ask or think happen for you also since God is not a respector of persons. (Acts 10:34)

In addition, note the full extent of this miracle for God moved Jacob from a severe famine in Canaan to extreme abundance in Egypt for Pharaoh told Joseph, Bring your father and your households and I will give you the best land on Egypt and you will eat the fat of the land. (Genesis 45:18)
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13)
However note that before Jacob could enjoy God's exceeding abundance in Egypt, he had to live through his situation moving from bad (thinking his favorite son Joseph had died) to worse (thinking that he had also lost his other dearly beloved son Benjamin) when Joseph first sent for Benjamin to go to Egypt for he said, "If I am bereaved, I am bereaved." (Genesis 45:14)

Joseph had initially sent for Benjamin to test his brothers before he revealed himself to them and neither they nor their father Jacob knew his real reason for asking for Benjamin.

Therefore continue trusting God and believing that you will see the goodness of God in the land of the living even if your situation changes from bad to terrible.

To help you continue trusting God as you wait for Him to orchestrate the events in your life so that they change from exceedingly bad to exceedingly good, believe, meditate and confess encouragement Bible Verses like the following:
