Fear of the giants in the Promised Land initially stopped the Israelites from fighting to gain possession of it.
We can see this when Joshua Spoke to all the Israelites saying, “The land we spied out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord God delights in us, He will bring us into this land and give it to us ... Only do not rebel against the Lord or fear the people of the land ... Do not fear them.” (Numbers 14:6-9)
But the Israelites did not listen to him.
They let their fear of the giants overcome their faith in God’s ability to help them and refused to go forth and possess their Promised Land.
