Step 6
Think Right
This book of the law
shall not leave your mouth. You shall meditate on it day and night so that you
do what is written in it for then you shall become prosperous and successful.
(Joshua 1:8)
As a person thinks in his heart so are they. (Proverbs 23:7)
Put off, concerning your former conduct, the
old person who grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts of their flesh
and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. (Ephesians 4:22-24)
Therefore to be renewed in your mind, ensure that you think thoughts
that are True, noble, just, pure,
lovely, of good report, virtuous and praiseworthy. (Philippians 4:8)
To help you do this, schedule time to meditate on Bible
verses.
To meditate, simply lie down in a quiet place and take
several deep breaths. Once your body begins to feel calmer, focus your mind on
Scriptures like the following:
I am free from this addiction because he/she
who the Son sets free is free indeed. (Adapted John 8:36)
In
all these things I am more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ Who loves me. (Romans
8:37)
God has
restored health to me and healed me. (Adapted Jeremiah 30:17)

When Do I Engage In The Addictive Behavior?
Restructure your life to make it harder for yourself to
engage in the addictive behavior by using your past experiences and those you
have recorded in your Stop Smoking Diary to answer the question “When do I engage in the addictive behavior?”
Write down the specific times and schedule constructive activities
like exercising or reading self-help books to do during those times.
