Confusion is another device the devil uses to attack the
people of God.
We can see a good example when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, Ammonites and Ashdodites heard the walls
of Jerusalem were being rebuilt and the gaps being closed, they became very
angry and conspired to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion (Nehemiah
4:7-8) so that Nehemiah and the Israelites could stop rebuilding them.
How to Deal with Confusion
If you are being attacked with this device of confusion do
the following:
Pray
Pray for Peace
Nehemiah prayed when he learned of this plot for he says, We made our prayer to God and set a watch
against them day and night. (Nehemiah 4:9)
Therefore when you start to feel confused, pray and ask God
to give you peace because God is not the
author of confusion, but of peace. (1 Corinthians 14:33)
Pray for Clarity
Pray and ask God to clarify the issues that are confusing
you because we are told If any person lacks
wisdom, let them ask of God who gives to all freely and without reproach and it
shall be given. (James 1:5)
As you pray, ensure that you believe without a shadow of
doubt that God will give you clarity regardless of what you feel for we are to Ask in faith without doubting because the
person who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. Let
not that person suppose that they will receive anything from God because they
are double-minded and unstable in all their ways. (James 1:6-8)
Pray for the Holy
Spirit
Pray and ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit because
Jesus said, When He, the Spirit of truth
comes, He will guide you in all truth. (John 16:13)
Change Your Mind
The Bible tells us to Be
transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may be able to know what
is that good, acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)
Therefore if you are confused by an issue and you do not
know what you should do, renew your mind so that you can know what God would
like you to do.
To renew your mind, meditate on Bible verses that nullify
the negative thoughts in your mind so that you can be in a better position to
discern God’s will for you.
Bible verses that you can meditate on to fight confusion
include:
I have asked God and
He will show me great and mighty things which I did not know. (Adapted
Jeremiah 33:3)
I have acknowledged
the Lord and He shall direct my paths. (Adapted Proverbs 3:6)
The peace of God
which surpasses all understanding will guard my heart and mind through Christ
Jesus. (Adapted Philippians 4:7)
Confess the Word of God
The sword of the
spirit is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17) and confessing Bible verses like
the following can help you win your battle against this device of confusion
since The tongue has the power of life
and death. (Proverbs 18:21)
The God of love and
peace is with me. (Adapted 2 Corinthians 13:11)
You will keep me in
perfect peace because my mind is stayed on you and because I trust in you. (Adapted
Isaiah 26:3)
God has given me a
spirit of power, love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
Guard Your Heart
After evicting negative thoughts from your mind, you have to
make sure you do not let new ones in. To do this, Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it comes the issues of
life. (Proverbs 4:23)
To guard your heart and mind, you have to wear the
breastplate of righteousness by doing the right thing in the sight of God all
the time.
Doing this will ensure that you do not allow bad things into
your heart and mind through your eyes by reading books and blogs or watching
movies and TV shows that have a message that is contrary to God’s Word.
It will
also make sure that you do not let in negative things through your ears by
listening to ungodly music or discussions. By only allowing things that are right in the sight of God
into your heart and mind, you will be less confused by the issues of life.
Do Not Be Jealous
Do not be jealous of other people and their possessions and
do not compete with them because Where
envy and rivalry exist, there is confusion. (James 3:16)
Therefore obey the 10th commandment which says: Do not covet your neighbor’s house, spouse,
staff, animals or anything that belongs to them. (Exodus 20:17)
Instead of being jealous or envious, be thankful for what
you have since Godliness with
contentment is great gain (1 Timothy 6:6) and ask God to supply all you
needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.
