The Bible tells us to Trust in the Lord with all your heat and do not rely on your own understanding. In all you ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
However when He directs your paths, you have to listen to His instructions carefully.
Learn from Balaam when King Balak of Moab sent princes to ask him to come and curse the Israelites for Balaam asked them to spend the night so that he could hear from God.
God told him, You shall not go with them. You shall not curse the Israelites because they are blessed (Numbers 22:12) and this first group of princes returned to King Balak.
Balak did not give up so easily because he sent another group of princes and Balaam told them, "Even though King Balak was to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the word of God. So please spend the night so that I can know more of what God wants me to say." (Numbers 22:18-19)
God came to Balaam that night he told him, "If men come to call you, rise up and go with them. But you shall only do what I tell you." (Numbers 22:20-21)
However, Balaam rose in the morning and went with the princes of Moab (Numbers 22:21) who were already in his house. He did not wait for other men to come and call him.
His act of going with those men made God angry and as he was going God's Angel stood in the way as his adversary. This made his donkey turn to the side and go into a field. Then the donkey pushed herself against a wall and hurt his foot before she she lay down on the ground and refused to move because she could see God's Angel with his drawn sword.
Thus Balaam experienced many problems on his path after he acknowledged God because he did not follow the path he had been given.
Therefore if you acknowledge God and He directs your path but you find that you have many problems as you proceed on that path, consult God once again to find out why you are facing so many problems.
