Lessons from Women in Bible Genealogies: Rahab

Rahab
Rahab was a prostitute (Joshua 2:1) who lived in the Promised Land before the Israelites possessed it. When Joshua sent spies to check out the Promised Land, they lodged in her home.

Rahab did not have any children because when she struck a deal with the Israelite spies for hiding them she said, "I have shown you kindness and you also show me kindness by sparing my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters and all that they have.(Joshua 2:12-13) If she had children she would have mentioned them in this agreement with the Israelites.

Rahab teaches us the following lessons:
2. Know what is happening

Rahab knew what was happening in the region because when the Israelites spies came to her, she told them, I know that the Lord has given you the land and that all the inhabitants of our land are afraid and fainthearted because of you. For we have heard how God dried up the Red Sea for you when you left Egypt and how you destroyed two Amorite kings – Sihon and Og - who were on the other side of the Jordan … For the Lord your God is God is Heaven above and on earth beneath. (Joshua 2:8-11)

Therefore make it a point to know what is happening in your region because you never know when it might save your life.
