How To Fight Poverty with Bible Verses
Regardless of how
many times you have unsuccessfully tried to break free from the bondage of
poverty, you must never despair and accept to die in paucity.
You have to decide to
believe that God would like you to prosper since His Word says Blessed be
God who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. (Psalm 35:27)
Then, since Jesus
came so that we can Have life and have it to the full, (John
10:10) you have to combine spiritual, mental, verbal, and physical
interventions to form your own holistic deliverance ministry to fight poverty
and live in abundance.
Pray
The first spiritual
intervention is to pray and ask God to help you become financially free.
Understand that even if other humans beings do not have time to listen to what
you have to say because of your financial status, God will listen to you For
the Lord hears the poor (Psalm 69:33) and He will deliver the
needy when he cries, the poor, and the person who has no helper. (Psalm
72:12)
In addition, not only
does the Lord listen to the poor, but He also Raises the poor out of
the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap so that He may seat him with
princes. (Psalm 113:7-8)
We can see a
practical example of this when King David sent for Mephibosheth who was the
crippled son of Jonathan and told him, “You shall eat at my table” (2
Samuel 9:7) after making wealthy by declaring that “I will restore to you
Mephibosheth all the land that belonged to King Saul your grandfather. ”
(2 Samuel 9:7)
Therefore, even if
you have been living in seemingly hopeless circumstances and even if you
consider yourself utterly useless like Mephibosheth who asked King David, “What
is your servant, that you should show kindness to such a dead dog as I?” (2
Samuel 9:8) understand that God can cause you to be raised like from the
oblivion of poverty to the prominence of being seated with princes.
Understand also that
God can change your financial situation even if you are crippled physically,
educationally or materially like He did for Mephibosheth who could not help
himself acquire his grandfather’s real estate since he was lame.
So, pray because God
can translate paupers from poverty to prosperity. Pray and ask Him for the
financial freedom that you yearn because He reassures us that For the
oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now I will arise,"
says the Lord. "I will set him in the safety for which he
yearns". (Psalm 12:5)
As you pray, use
Scriptures since the Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit that God has
given us to fight with. (Ephesians 6:17) Scriptures that you can use as
personal poverty deliverance prayers include:
1. Heavenly Father I
ask You in the name of Jesus to remember me with the favor You have toward Your
people and to visit me with Your salvation so that I may see the benefit of
Your chosen ones, rejoice in the gladness of Your nation and glory with Your
inheritance. (Adapted Psalm
106:4-5)
2. Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of
Jesus to bless my hard work and help me prosper since it is written that The
soul of the diligent shall be made rich. (Proverbs 19:4)
***
Believe
As you pray, believe that God will help you
since having faith in God and in His Word is how you hold up your shield of
faith which is one of our spiritual weapons and the weapon that is able to quench
all the fiery darts of the enemy. (Ephesians 6:16)
***
Get Saved
Put on the helmet of salvation since it is
another part of the armor of God that we need to put on to fight our spiritual
battles. (Ephesians 6:14-17)
All you need to do to put on this helmet of
salvation is to say with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your
heart that God raised Him from the dead when He died for our sins on the cross
and you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
***
Meditate
The next intervention you need to take is to
remove all negative thoughts from your mind so that you can be renewed in the
spirit of your mind.
To do this, set specific Christian meditation sessions
during the day when you can meditate on prosperity scriptures like:
1. I am prospering in all things and I
am good health just as my soul prospers. (Adapted 3 John 1:2)
2. God brings out those who are bound in poverty into
prosperity. (Adapted Psalm 68:6)
3. No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
(Psalm 84:11)
4. He sets the poor on high, far from affliction, and makes their
families like a flock. (Psalm 107:41)
5. The Lord is my shepherd and I shall not lack. He makes me to
lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my
soul … He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies. He anoints
my head with oil and my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow
me all the days of my life. (Adapted Psalm 23)
***
Read the Bible
Ensure that you read at least one chapter of the
Bible every day because the Gospel is another of the weapons of our warfare.
Reading the Bible will also teach you other
prosperity scriptures to meditate on.
In addition to reading the Bible, you should
also read other material to increase your financial knowledge since the Bible
says My people perish because of lack of knowledge. (Hosea 4:6)
Therefore schedule time for reading blogs and
other books on personal finance, watching shows on money matters and attending
webinars on how to make money.
***
Affirm Yourself
Since the tongue has the power of life and death, (Proverbs
18:21) use the power of your mouth to change your financial situation by
declaring positive affirmations.
Magnify the power of your affirmations by using Scriptures as
your affirmations since the Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians
6:17) that we need to wield to win our spiritual battles.
Financial affirmations from the Bible that you can confess
include:
1. My
God is supplying all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
(Adapted Philippians 4:19)
2. I
trust in the living God who gives me richly all things to enjoy. (Adapted 1
Timothy 6:17)
3. God gives me
my food in due season. He opens His hand and satisfies my desire. (Adapted
Psalm 145:14-16)
4. I am
beginning to prosper and I will continue prospering until I become very
prosperous. (Adapted Genesis 26:13)
5. The needy
shall not always be forgotten and the expectation of the poor shall not perish.
(Psalm 9:18)
***
Live Right
Be righteous and truthful in all your financial
and other dealings because the breastplate of righteousness and the belt of
truth are the other parts of the armor of God that we need to put on to fight
our spiritual battles. (Ephesians 6:14-17)

Tithe
God tells us to “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so that there may be food in
My house and try Me now in this," says the Lord of hosts, "If I will
not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that
there will not be room enough to receive it.
And I will rebuke the devourer for your sake, so that he will not
destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you
in the field. ” says the Lord of hosts. (Malachi
3:10-11)
Therefore, take ten percent of your gross income
to your local Church so that God can pour out His blessings on you.
He also promises to rebuke the devourer who may
come to destroy your financial investments through numerous ways like
plagiarizing your work or refusing to pay you.
God also promises to ensure that your vine will
bear fruit for you in the field regardless of whether your field is a blog or
an offline business.

Work
Jesus taught about the noble man who gave his
servants talents before he went on a journey and told them to “Do business”.
Upon his return, he asked them to account for
their talents and he rewarded the first servant who had made a tenfold profit
from his one talent with ten cities. (Luke 19:12-24)
Therefore, identify your talents and use them to
“Do business”.
You can for example start a blog and write about
some aspect of your life even anonymously.
You can then "Do Business" with your
blog by:
1. Earning money from advertisements placed on
your blog
2. Making money from selling other people’s
books that you review on your blog
3. Making money by writing articles for other
people’s blogs
4. Offering editing services
5. Charging for your services as a Blogging
Consultant to those who want to learn how to make money from their blogs.
***
Diversify your Income
Learn from the Proverbs 31 woman and develop
multiple income streams because we can see that she made money as a:
1. Real estate investor for She buys a field
(Proverbs 31:16)
2. Farmer for She plants a vineyard (Proverbs
31:16)
3. Manufacturer for She makes linen garments and
sells them (Proverbs 31:26)
4. Wholesaler for she Supplies merchants with
sashes (Proverbs 31:24)
Therefore in addition to writing on your own
blog you should also diversify your sources of income.
You can do this by selling handmade cards with
your original quotes or selling photos you have taken or anything else you have
created.
