Dealing with the Devices of the Devil Series

Are you unable to think clearly?

Are you having a hard time making decisions?

Are you staggering between two courses of action?

If you are, know that you are dealing with confusion and it is one of the devices of the devil.

We know that confusion is a device of the devil because when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, Ammonites and Ashdodites heard the walls of Jerusalem were being rebuilt and the gaps being closed, they became very angry and conspired to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion. (Nehemiah 4:7-8)

The Bible also tells us that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. (1 Corinthians 14:33)

How To Overcome Confusion As A Christian

If you are a Christian and you want to overcome confusion, do the following:

Pray
When Nehemiah learned that Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, Ammonites and Ashdodites were conspiring to cause confusion, he says, We made our prayer to God. (Nehemiah 4:9)

Therefore, pray and ask God to help you. Sample prayers that you can say include the following:
Heavenly Father it is written that if we lack wisdom we should ask You and it will be given and I therefore ask You in the name of Jesus to help me know what I should about this confusing situation. (James 1:5)

Father God I ask You in the name of Jesus to fill my mind and heart with Your peace which surpasses all understanding. (Philippians 4:7)

Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that He can guide me in all truth. (John 16:13)

Set a Watch

When Nehemiah learned that Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, Ammonites and Ashdodites were conspiring to cause confusion, he says, We set a watch against them day and night. (Nehemiah 4:9)

Therefore watch out for attacks of the enemy by doing the following:
1. Monitor your thoughts to ensure that you do not entertain any thoughts of confusion. If you find that a confusing thought has entered your mind, nullify it by meditating on Proverbs 3:6 and declaring I have acknowledged the Lord and He shall direct my paths. (Adapted Proverbs 3:6)

2. Put on the armor of God because we are told to Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11) Click on the link to read How to put on the Armor of God.

Renew Your Mind
The Bible tells us to Be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may be able to know what is that good, acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)

Therefore if you are confused by an issue and you want to know God's perfect will for you, know that you have to renew your mind.

To renew your mind, meditate on Bible verses that nullify the confusing thoughts in your mind so that you can discern God’s will for you. Bible verses that you can meditate on to overcome confusion include:

I have acknowledged the Lord and He shall direct my paths. (Adapted Proverbs 3:6)

I have asked God and He will show me great and mighty things which I did not know. (Adapted Jeremiah 33:3)

I have submitted to God. I am resisting the devil and he is fleeing from me. (James 4:7)
