Step 1
Bible Verses to Ponder
It
is no longer I who do it but it is the sin that lives in me. For I know that
nothing good lives inside my flesh because the will is present in me but how to
do what is good I am not able. For the good that I want to do, I do not do but
I do the evil I do not want to do. So if I do what I do not want to do, it is
not I who does it but the sin that lives in me. (Romans 7:17-20)
The
spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. (Matthew
26:41)
Action
Plan
Admit
that you need God’s help to stop this addiction.
Accept
that Jesus Christ can help you overcome the addiction because:
With
God all things are possible. (Matthew
19:26)
God
gives power to the weak. (Isaiah
40:29)
God says, “My grace is sufficient for you because
My strength is made perfect in weakness”. (2
Corinthians 12:9)
To receive help from Jesus to overcome the addiction give
your life to Jesus.
God
did not send His Son to condemn the world. He sent Him so that the world might
be saved through Him. (John 3:17)
Come
to Me all of you who are weary and I will give you rest. (Matthew
11:28)
If
you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that
God raised Him from the dead when He died for our sins, you will be
saved. (Romans 10:9)
Therefore
get saved right by saying with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believing with
your heart that when He died for our sins God raised Him from the dead.

time you engage in the addictive behavior write down the following in your Stop

3.
The people you were with
4.
The circumstances that led you to do it
5.
Your state of mind or mood when you begun doing it
6.
Your state of mind or mood when you finished doing it
In
addition, write down how many times in a week you engage in the addictive
behavior on the first page of your Stop Addiction Diary.

Step 1 Aromatherapy
Black pepper essential oil (Piper nigrum) has a warm and spicy aroma. It is used to
reduce tobacco
cravings in persons trying to quit smoking.
Persons
who should avoid using black pepper essential oil include pregnant women, those
with liver disease, kidney disease and sensitive skin.
To use this aromatherapy oil, add 3 drops to a cotton ball
and inhale the scent when you want to reduce nicotine cravings.
Step 2
Bible Verses to Ponder
When
an unclean spirit leaves a person it goes through dry places looking for a
place to rest. When it does not find any, it says, “I will return from where I
came from.” When it comes back, it finds it swept and in order. It then goes
and takes 7 other spirits which are more wicked than itself and they enter that
person to live in him and the last state of that person is worse than the
first. (Luke
11:24-26)
This
is seen in persons who stop engaging in an addictive behavior, get their life
together and become clean only to revert back to engaging in the addictive
behavior more frequently than they did before quitting.
Ask
and it will be given to you, seek and you will find it, knock and it will be
opened to you. For those who ask receive, those who seek find and to those who
knock it is opened … If you being evil know how to give good gifts to your
children, how much more then will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to
those who ask Him! (Luke 11:9-13)
Ask
in faith without doubting because the person who doubts is like a wave of the
sea tossed by the wind. Let not that person suppose that they will receive
anything from God because they are double-minded and unstable. (James 1:6-8)
Action
Plan
Ask
God to fill you with His Holy Spirit right now so that when you expel any evil
spirits associated with the addictive behavior, if they try to come back to
control your life again, they will find the Holy Spirit dwelling in you since
your body is the Temple of the
Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians
6:19)
To
do this, say the following prayers while believing that God will give you what
you are asking Him:
1.
Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to remove any evil spirits
associated with this addiction from my life.
2.
Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to fill me with Your Holy Spirit
for it is written that if we ask You for the Holy Spirit you will give Him to
those who ask. (Luke
11:9-12)

Set Your Quit Date
Your
Quit Date is the day that you will officially stop engaging in the addictive
behavior. To choose a good quit date, pick one that is significant to you like
your birthday so that you can motivate yourself to achieve your goal of never
engaging in the addictive behavior again.
However,
for purposes of this Christian Addiction Program we have set your Quit Date for
Step 15. This is around 2 weeks from today assuming you will take 1 day to
complete each step.
Therefore
mark your Quit Date on the calendars in your mobile phone and computer as well
as those hanging on the walls of your home and office.
In
addition, inform your family, friends and close associates of your Quit Date so
that they too can begin adjusting their lifestyles to support your decision to
stop engaging in the addictive behavior.
