How Can I Pray Effectively Part 2
To pray effectively, you have to do the following:
The Bible tells us, This is the confidence that we have in Him – if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us and if we know that He hears us whatever we ask, then we know we have received what we have asked Him. (1 John 5:14-15)
Ask According to God's Will
The Bible tells us, This is the confidence that we have in Him – if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us and if we know that He hears us whatever we ask, then we know we have received what we have asked Him. (1 John 5:14-15)
So, if you want to pray effectively, you have to ask according to God’s will for you.
Therefore first pray to know God’s will for your situation so that you can pray more effectively by aligning your prayers to His will.
Ask in Jesus' Name
The Bible tells us, If you ask anything in My name, I
will do it. (John 14:14)It also says that God has highly exalted Jesus and given Him the name which is above every name so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, those in heaven, those on earth and those under the earth and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-10)
So, if you want to pray effectively, you must ask in Jesus’ name.
You can do this by beginning your prayers with “Father God I ask you in the name of Jesus to ...”
Ask Not Amiss
The Bible tells us, You ask and you do not receive because you ask amiss so that you may use it on your pleasures. (James 4:3)
So, if you want to pray effectively, you must not ask amiss. This means that you have to ensure you are praying with the right motives and not praying from a selfishly motivated heart or with corrupt intentions if you want to get answers to your prayers.
Learn from King Solomon when he prayed for understanding with the noble motive of wanting to be able to judge God’s people wisely for he said, “Give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people so that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?” (1 Kings 3:10)
As a result of his pure motive, God told him, “See, I have given you a wise and
understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor
shall any like you arise after you. And I have also given you what you have not
asked for: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you
among the kings all your days.” (1 Kings 3:12-13)
Therefore since correct the
secret motives of your heart before you start to pray so that you do not ask
amiss and miss the answers to your prayers.
For optimum results, this Prayer Journal should be used after reading How to Pray Effectively which uses practical examples from the Bible to teach you 20 things that you should do to ensure your prayers are answered. This Christian prayer book also answers the following questions:
*Who can pray effectively?
*How can I pray effectively?
*When can I pray effectively?
*Where can I pray effectively?
*What can I use to pray effectively?
