Bible Mother's Day Devotional Book Excerpt
Hannah
I prayed for this child and the Lord granted me the request which I asked of Him.
1 Samuel 1:27
1 Samuel 1:27
Bible Lesson
Hannah was very stressed because her co-wife Peninnah who
had sons and daughters used to Provoke
her severely to make her miserable because she did not have children. (1 Samuel 1:6)
She was so distressed that she wept and did
not eat. Even when she was praying in the Temple, Eli the Priest thought she
was drunk because She was in bitterness
of soul … and wept in anguish. (1 Samuel 1:10)
Hannah then struck a deal with God and
promised that if He gave her a son, she would give him back to Him. God gave
her a baby boy and she took him to the Temple to serve God for his entire life.
Hannah therefore teaches us that if we have
a very distressing problem, we can promise God something if He solves our
problem for us.
Hannah also teaches us that once God solves
our problem, we have to keep the end of our bargain like she did when she took
Samuel to the Temple.
Therefore consider promising God something
if you have a big problem but as you do so Do not be rash with your mouth and do not let your mouth
utter anything hastily before God because God is in heaven and you are on
earth. Therefore let your words be few. (Ecclesiastes 5:2)
Prayer
Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to grant me (state what you want God to do for you)
and I will (state what you will do for God).
Bible Meditation
Do not be rash
with your mouth and do not let your mouth utter anything hastily before God for
God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few. (Ecclesiastes 5:2)
Rebecca
Mother's Day Bible Verse
If all is well with me, why am I like this?
Genesis 25:21
Genesis 25:21
Bible Lesson
Rebecca teaches us that we have to consult God when
something is not right with our children.
Therefore, if you notice something weird about your
children, regardless of whether they are your unborn children or your adult
children, inquire of the Lord to find out what they are like that.
Inquiring of God is very important because He can give you
the spiritual insight into your problem which will
help you cope better with the physical effects of the problem and help you seek
the best solution for the problem which can include consulting the best
counselor or doctor.
Note that consulting a doctor or any human specialist is
also important but this should complement consulting God because human
specialists can prescribe treatment that will treat the problem but God can direct
you to the right human specialists or He can cure the entire problem from its root.
Prayer
Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to help me remember
that I should consult you first whenever I notice a problem with my children.
The Shunammite Woman
Mother's Day Bible Verse
It is well.
2 Kings 4:23
2 Kings 4:23
Mother's Day Bible Lesson
The Shunammite woman who was the mother of a young boy teaches us not to speak negative words over negative situations if we want to change them. This is because after her son died, her husband inquired why she was going to see Elisha and she said, "It is well." (2 Kings 4:23)
When Elisha saw her approaching, he sent his servant to inquire about her and she replied, "It is well." (2 Kings 4:26)
When she finally met with Elisha, she told him she wouldn’t leave him and he followed her home and brought her son back to life.
Therefore if something negative happens to you or your children, do not speak negative words if you do not want the negative situation to become entrenched because Death and life are in the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21)
If you must speak about the situation make a positive confession like "It is well" (2 Kings 4:23) because you are believing God will make it well because Faith is the substance of things hoped for. (Hebrews 11:1)
This mother therefore teaches us that we should not speak negative words about negative situations that we do not want to be entrenched in our lives. She shows us that we should continue making positive confessions about our situation until we get to the presence of God or meet with His servant.
So continue having faith by believing that what you are hoping for is what will happen since Faith is the substance of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1) and speak out this faith whenever you are asked about the situation that you are believing God to help you with.
One way of doing this is by confessing that "It is well" (2 Kings 4:26) even though your situation is not yet well because you are believing that God will make it well.
Prayer
Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to help me to
chose my words carefully because my words have power.
