Strengthen Your Faith Devotional Day 5

Bible Reading

Pharaoh sent for Joseph and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon and he shaved, changed his clothing and came to Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have dreamed a dream and there is none that can interpret it but I have heard it said that you can understand a dream to interpret it.”

Joseph answered Pharaoh saying, “It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.” … So the advice was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants … And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” (Genesis 41:14-41)

Joseph had a horrible CV when Pharaoh sent for him because apart from being a dream interpreter, he had spent the last 2 years of his life in prison after Potiphar’s wife accused him of rape. Prior to that, he had been a slave after his brothers sold him into slavery.

But, when he interpreted the dream that Pharaoh’s wise men could not decipher, Pharaoh immediately gave him the job of Prime Minister of Egypt. This was despite his terrible CV and the facts that he was just 30 years (Genesis 41:46) and he not an Egyptian national and he had not received an Egyptian education. (Genesis 39-41)  

Therefore believe that God can enable you to get a great job even if your CV, age, qualifications, nationality and other human records seemingly disqualify from you from getting any job because With God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26) In addition, know that God is not a respector of persons (Acts 10:34) which means that what He did for Joseph, He can also do for you if you believe. However it is important to note that Joseph was careful not to sin against God because when Potiphar’s wife tempted him to commit adultery, he asked her, “How can I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9) So do your best not to sin against God regardless of what you are going through if you want Him to come through for you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to help me remember that All things are possible for the person who believes (Mark 9:23) so that I can believe without wavering that With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26) including getting a great job regardless of my CV.

Bible Verse Meditation

Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” (Genesis 41:41)

You can even modify it and meditate on Pharaoh said to (insert your name) “See, I have set you over (insert the name of the company where you want to work).”
