Cure Bitterness Biblically
If you are prone to
thinking bitter thoughts or speaking bitter words or behaving bitterly, choose
a Scripture that negates bitterness like Get
rid of bitterness, wrath, anger, brawling, speaking evil and malice. (Ephesians
4:31)
Meditate on this Bible
verse, decide to believe it and speak it out whenever you are tempted to think,
speak or act bitter. Then, pray and ask God to heal the wounds that cause you
to think, speak or act this way.
In addition, decide
in advance what you will do when you encounter the situations that trigger this
kind of behavior. For example, you can decide that you will walk away from any
situation that causes you to think, speak or act bitterly. Once you are in a
safe place, you will clear the bitterness by thinking of 12 things that you are
grateful for and praising God for them.
Finally, find a way to talk about the issues that hurt you and caused you to become bitter. You can do this verbally with a trusted friend or by blogging anonymously. Ensure that you also go out of your way to Be kind to one another, compassionate and forgiving even as God in Christ forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32).
